Suture sur le corps de la liberté

Stitches on the body of freedom

Niyaz Azadikhah – Alireza Shojaian

The tradition of cutting hair at a time of grief and sorrow to bring a change as the preface of growth has always existed but after the tragic death of Mahsa Amini by the morality police in Iran cutting hair has become a symbol of resistance and empathy all around the world. An act of solidarity that empowers the wounded bodies and souls in the streets of Iran.

As a female artist and a Queer artist who both escaped the patriarchal control over our bodies and identities, we found art once again as the only savior.
Stitching the busted body of freedom with threads and hairs. attaching a variant of identities on a slogan that can bring improvement and freedom to a nation.

Capturing the history between the threads and immortalizing the bravery of a nation that stood up to flow blood to the veins of freedom.
